2026 Block Kids Building Program

The Central Missouri Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) proudly hosted the 2026 Block Kids Building Program, welcoming 52 enthusiastic young builders for a day of creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on construction fun.

Designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of construction and engineering, the Block Kids Building Program challenges participants to build a structure using only a limited set of materials—testing not only their building skills, but also their imagination, critical thinking, and perseverance. This year’s competitors rose to the occasion, showcasing impressive designs and innovative solutions across all age divisions.

Following the competition, participants were invited to continue exploring their creativity by building their very own birdhouses. This interactive activity allowed students to further develop their hands-on skills while taking home a meaningful project they could proudly display.

Prizes and medals were awarded to the top three projects in each age division, recognizing outstanding craftsmanship, originality, and adherence to program guidelines. In addition, one overall Grand Champion was selected from among all divisions. This exceptional builder will advance to the regional level of competition, representing the Central Missouri Chapter with pride.

The success of the 2026 Block Kids Building Program reflects NAWIC’s ongoing commitment to inspiring the next generation of builders and introducing youth to the many opportunities available within the construction industry. Events like these help spark early interest in construction, engineering, and skilled trades—planting the seeds for future careers and lifelong passions.
