NAWIC Members Support Go Red for Women’s Evening in Red

On Wednesday, November 13, 2025, NAWIC members were honored to attend the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Evening in Red at The Atrium on Tenth in Columbia, Missouri. This inspiring event is dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and stroke—the leading causes of death among women—and empowering women to take charge of their heart health.

The evening began with a cocktail hour, silent auction, and diva lounge, creating a vibrant atmosphere for networking and fundraising. Following these activities, attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner and powerful program featuring a panel of women in the healthcare industry who shared insights on risk factors and prevention strategies. The program also included a moving personal story from a heart attack survivor, reminding everyone why heart health awareness is so critical.

For the second year, the event was co-chaired by Brian Burks (Emery Sapp & Sons) and his wife, Hilary Burks, a cardiovascular nurse practitioner at Missouri Heart Center. Their mission is clear: to educate and inspire women to prioritize their heart health.

In support of this meaningful cause, our chapter contributed a silent auction basket with the theme “Red Hot Night Out.” The basket included a bottle of red wine, two red stainless steel wine glasses, red nail polish, red lipstick, and several gift certificates to local restaurants—perfect for a fun and vibrant evening.

We are proud to stand with the American Heart Association in promoting awareness and look forward to continuing our support for this life-saving initiative.
