September PD&E: BCFPD🚒

Updated: Oct 4

The NAWIC Central Missouri Chapter gathered in September for an engaging and insightful Professional Development & Education event held at the Emery Sapp & Sons office in Columbia. Members enjoyed a relaxed evening of networking, food, and refreshments generously provided by Quality Drywall Construction, another proud member company.

Our featured guest speaker was Gale Blomenkamp, Support Services Bureau Director for the Boone County Fire Protection District. Gale shared his expertise and perspective on the importance of including emergency services in road construction planning and discussions. His presentation emphasized how collaboration between contractors, engineers, and first responders can significantly improve road safety, accessibility, and emergency response times during and after construction projects.

The Boone County Fire Protection District—one of the largest in the state—serves a vast and growing community with a strong foundation of dedicated volunteer firefighters. The district is also home to Missouri Task Force 1, a highly trained urban search and rescue team that responds to disasters across the nation.

The evening was an excellent reminder of how our industry intersects with public safety and community well-being. NAWIC Central Missouri extends a heartfelt thank-you to Emery Sapp & Sons, Quality Drywall Construction, and Gale Blomenkamp for making this event both educational and inspiring.
